The vast majority of us this summer have been deprived of real summer vacation and enjoy swimming, sunbathing and all the beauties that summer vacation brings with it. That is why we have decided to present to you in our next blog some of the most beautiful summer destinations that are the best destinations to escape winter.
Maybe the beach fades from your memory when the temps drop, but this destination will instantly revive your memory and desire to visit one of them. We present to you the selection of the Poente team for the upcoming winter.
Cuba
You didn’t have to doubt that Cuba would be at the top of our list. A country that has been defying the spirit of the times for decades and manages to keep its authenticity and uniqueness. The beautiful nature of this country and its shores certainly contributes to that. One thing is sure – Cuba is a country of indefinable magic. This is a country where you can wave goodbye to everyday assumptions and expect the unexpected.
In Cuba, the climate is tropical, with a dry and relatively cool season from late November to mid-April. Even wintertime in Cuba is pleasantly warm with daytime temperatures around 26 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the fact that you can book your accommodation in one of the luxury hotels in Cuba, for those who are a little more adventurous, Cubans can rent out spare rooms in their homes as tourist accommodation. And when you are set to go on they will call around to get a reservation in your next destination.
Typical Cuban food is composed of local produce that is regularly fresh and usually organic. There is limited factory farming in Cuba, and the food is not pumped full of hormones and synthetic fertilizers. Here you can read a great article about food in Cuba.
We could write extensively about the famous cocktails made in Cuba, the music, Hemingway’s days spent here, and the famous Cuban cigars. However, our warmest recommendation is to visit this magical place and see for yourself why it is at the top of our list.
Cuba has a very low crime rate and is a very safe tourist destination. Of course, like everything else, there are areas where you need to be more careful, but general security is at a high level.
Jamaica
From Cuba, we are moving not so far, to Jamaica. We have long hesitated which of these two destinations to put in the first place and this hesitation continues, so we randomly chose which goes first.
Jamaica is the Caribbean country that comes with its own soundtrack. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind when Jamaica is mentioned is Bob Marley and reggae music. Jamaica commences with crystalline waters flowing over gardens of coral, lapping onto soft sandy beaches, then rises past red soil and lush banana groves into sheer mountains.

Jamaica is the third-largest island in the Caribbean Sea situated west of Hispaniola and south of Cuba. The original inhabitants of Jamaica are believed to be the Arawaks, also called Tainos. They came from South America 2,500 years ago and named the island Xaymaca, which meant “land of wood and water”. A country of extremely interesting and turbulent history certainly inherits a great cultural heritage.
The country of Jamaica is, as we already said, known as ‘the land of wood and water’, and that’s for a reason. No matter where you visit here, it’s practically guaranteed that the venue will be naturally coupled with a massive plateful of scenery. Find a lot of useful information about Jamaica here.
Jamaican cuisine reflects this history of traditional food and customs. Visiting Jamaica you experience unique culinary fusion. The best way is to avoid familiar fast-food restaurants and discover the diversity of the Jamaican way of life through the markets and street food.
Cancún, Mexico
Cancún is a city in southeast Mexico on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. It is the ultimate vacation destination, with a blend of serenity and entertainment. Cancun’s history as a tourist destination dates back to the 1970s when the Mexican government chose the spot for development thanks to the area’s great weather, beautiful beaches, clear waters, and nearby coral reef.
Cancun is divided into two distinct areas: “Ciudad Cancun” and “Isla Cancun,” or “Cancun Island”. The main tourist area, known more commonly as the “Zona Hotelera” or hotel zone. This Cancun hotel zone is located on a 15-mile-long sandbar. The topmost action in Cancun is enjoying its gorgeous beaches, either by just lazing around with a cold drink, taking a languid stroll, or getting active with the number of water sports activities on offer.
If you want more you should visit the Maya Cancun Museum for its captivating historic sights and exhibition spaces. Nearby is the El Rey Ruins, which consists of a small Maya village with a temple dating back to around A.D. 250.
Enjoying Mexican cuisine is something that goes without saying, at least for us. Its incredible culinary culture is a hotbed of delightful gastronomic creations and a treasure trove for food lovers. From world-famous antojitos (appetizers) like tacos and quesadillas to the best-kept-secrets of pozole and birria, Mexican food will surely leave you spoilt for choice!
Cancun has a tropical climate, so the weather is warm year-round. This will help you enjoy great diving and snorkeling sites are nearby, including a famous underwater sculpture museum. Fun and enjoyment for the whole family are guaranteed. We will end with another picture of the fantastic beaches of this Mexican city.
