In today’s turbulent times of global security hazards such as terrorism, chemical weapons and the like, airport security is becoming a very important issue. Terrorism has been a predicament for airlines and air passengers since the 1970s when hijackings and attacks became the way of choice for rebellious, militant groups around the globe.
All airport precautionary measures were created as a result of some tragic event. Due to an attempt to keep the security measures constantly developing, it has become quite challenging to stay up to date with the latest airport security rules and regulations. In aviation, generally, all new procedures come in consequence after the tragic events or security failures.
Certain things, of course, remained unchanged, while some rules were modified and introduced. In the new text, we are dealing with this topic.
One of the most important security methods is, of course, confirming the identity of passengers by checking photo ID in passports. Furthermore, all public access to an airport is directed through the terminal, where each person must walk through a metal detector and all items must go through an X-ray machine.
It may be interesting to note that laptops are under special examination because they were used in terrorist attacks like bombs. The same procedure applies to high-heeled shoes. They are scanned carefully because they were used for smuggling explosives.
After checking all passengers and luggage, boarding is the next step. If we do not consider obvious thing you cant take on a plane, like guns or any other weapon or sharp item, here is a list of things you shouldn’t get on a plane. Of course, here we will not list all the items, only those that were most interesting to us. For detailed information, be sure to consult the airport before the flight.
- Liquids over 3.4 ounces or 100ml
This is a very strict restriction and you should pay attention to the fact that it is pertinent to all kinds of fluids, even including medicines.
- Sporting equipment
None of the sports equipment can be entered as personal luggage on the plane
- Lighters, matches and other flammable items
However, you are allowed to have a lighter with you, but which is gasoline free
- Meat, fruit, vegetables, or any agricultural product
When flying abroad, most countries prevent you from taking in meats, fruit, vegetables, plants, and other agricultural goods. You will not be allowed to bring any of the above ones out of the plane. On this list, you may find items like tent pegs, badminton racquets, and so on.
We hope that we have helped you prepare well for your next flight. Yours, Poente
